adduser/homedir-permission doesn't appear to work

This one time, at band camp, Olaf van der Spek said:

I don't know the fields for a preseed entry, I'm afraid, so can you tell
me what the first one represents? Package? Title? Something else?
I'm guessing at package, but I want to be sure. I don't really see how
this happened, looking over the maintainer scripts, so can you help
debug it?
