Hi,

I can influence adduser's algorithm for selecting the numeric UID from
the command line by overriding the config file's FIRST_UID setting
with --firstuid.

The corresponding option to override the config file's FIRST_GID from
the command line, which should probably be named --firstgid, seems to
be missing.
