[Adduser-devel] Bug#849265: adduser: Should not add users to the audio group

Package: adduser
Version: 3.113+nmu3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I was having issues with fast user switching in Gnome. When the first user
leaves something running that uses the sound card the second user only gets a
"Dummy Output" sound device. Researching the problem led me to find that users
should not be in the 'audio' group but all of the users on my systems were:

https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Documentation/User/PerfectSetup/

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/TheAudioGroup

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture#User_privileges

Removing the users from this group fixes the issue completely. I'm not sure
what package creates users during installation, but the --add_extra_groups flag
for this command adds this group.

Kind Regards,
Daniel
