Sorry, I didn't check closely enough the first time. I assumed you
were running the jessie version as the crash fixed by
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/autopkgtest/autopkgtest.git/commit/?id=8175297
looked very similar.

Indeed non-UTF-8 changelogs are invalid, but autopkgtest shouldn't
crash like that. Fixed in
