Greetings,

we are building axel for Solaris 8-10 and i ran into two minor issues for which i have attached a patch against axel 2.4. 

1) /bin/sh on Solaris doesn't like the $( ) notation.
2) our software stack, including GNU gettext lives in /opt/csw, so i made the i18n section honor $prefix instead of the hard-coded /usr/local

Would you mind merging this patch?
