[Bash-completion-devel] Bug#518289: Using bash-completion makes shell crash

Package: bash-completion
Version: 20080705
Severity: important

When I use the completion with the <TAB> key, it crashes with the
following message (in french, sorry for that) :

$ cd ~/<TAB>
malloc : ../bash/parse.y:5561 : assertion manquée
free : appelé avec un bloc non alloué comme argument
dernière commande : ll
Annulation...Abandon

(Here is a possible translation :
malloc : ../bash/parse.y:5561 : assertion failed
free : called with a non allocated block as an argument
last command : ll
Cancel
)

This happens every time I try to use the completion, not only with the
command cd.

The real problem is the completion is not the only one to crash, but
the running bash shell crashes too, closing the session.
