Initial Comment:
I've managed to "fix" 7z/vi/acroread test cases with failglob enabled by simply adding a pair of simple quotes in _filedir_xspec. The "proper" way would be to remove the eval in this line (see attached patch) instead, but my knowledge of the compgen/quote_readline combo is kinda limited.
