Coin,

I'm in charge of the CDBS documentation, and was not really involved in
CDBS code. I've recently been astonished seeing your upload, because i
tried to find a peaceful solution to the CDBS maintainance problem
(currently without real success).

Fact is Jeff is now extremly reluctant to let anybody else change the
code because of bad experiences in the past. I know CDBS maintainers
didn't reply to your call on the list, but you really should have tried
mailing them individually, what you did not (Jeff was totaly unaware of
your plans, and i didn't receive anything myself). Fact is my uploader's
right is currently limited to documentation updates, and i've never
succeeded in being allowed an upload by Jeff. I was planing another try
when your upload came.

I'm pleased somebody else cares about CDBS, but i also fear you were too
quick to make changes. I hope you made a lot of tests before uploading
to unstable, but that was not enought. At first super quick glance
(because i'm currently at office), i can tell you you forgot to
propagate CPPFLAGS when you fixed DEB_MAKE_INVOKE. This is not a big
deal, but i really think this package is very sensitive and you should
have uploaded to experimental instead, and call for tests on the ML, or
even on debian-devel (as so many packages need it nowadays).

I've got another friend interrested in helping for maintainance, so i
suggest we reorganize a new Team to take care of this work. I hope by
showing extra care in this task, Jeff would agree letting us continue
his nice work.

Regards.
