Ahem...

You are right, of course: that the stamp is never created.

Probably I used a custom make target with a (later?) package-specific
rule depending on it, and then at some point moved to the current setup
but forgot to remove the now unnecessary cleanup. I'll check, and
simplify the snippet if that's the case.

Oh, I really thought (without investigating) that the too was more used
than that.

The reason I include it for all of my packages is for the theoretical
case of getting a bugreport reproducable with the same exact binary
package but not recompiles from current sid/etch/sarge: dh_buildinfo
would then help find out which *exact* packages was on the system when
that binary package was produced, helping to locate possible errors in
dependency library packages. I have never actually needed the output of
dh_buildinfo, but I still find it valuable - in case someone some day
wants to investigate further.

Hope that clarifies the usefulnes of dh-buildinfo.
