  * Enable DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_DEBIAN_CONTROL when DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS
    contains cdbs-autoupdate. This allows globally enabling the feature
    (eg. on compiler farms), and still obey Debian Policy by default.

I'm personally against this feature because we should be working on
getting rid of this ill-designed feature rather than building up an
excuse-infrastructure for it. Others may be of different opinion.

  * Add buildinfo rule. Closes: bug#202873.

That rule still contains the same stamp file bug that is explained in the
bug.

  * Resolve per-package DEB_BUILDDIR before running {make,clean}builddir
    targets in buildcore rule, making it possible to programmatically
    change DEB_BUILDDIR.
  * Honour per-package DEB_BUILDDIR in makefile class.

Could you explain the purpose of this?

Documentation for any of this is still missing as well.

We need to make a release soon to get the pending Python updates in, but
I'm not confortable with releasing the above features yet.
