  I appreciate this point. I see you are not satisfied with the patch we 
already have. I guess you have seen of a case that breaks that idempotency. 
I'll take some time to think about those corner cases.

  I'm not really affected by this issue anymore, I moved to quilt, but I' still 
like to see this fixed.

  Meanwhile I think the smarter solution would be prepending the reverse-
patches stuff to the cleanbuilddir (as oposed to current appending). I can't 
figure out any good way of doing this.
