Hi Jonas -
    Thanks for the agreement. It's been quite a while now since this
bug has seen any action, but it looks like CDBS still has the behavior
of conditionalizing the DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_* variables on file existence.

Would you be willing to drop those checks at this point?
