Thanks for reporting!

This is caused by a recent tidying to wrap most code at 72 chars in 
source.  Code written in the make language generally convert escaped 
newlines to spaces, but code written in shell (i.e. build rules) 
preserve newlines.

It should only be cosmetic, but should be corrected anyway.  I am 
currently going through the code and tidying its output (and doing a 
slew of smaller improvements on the way).
