It's possible an sbuild issue; v3 source format support is
pretty new, and there are possible cases which aren't
handled properly.

Is this when building an existing source package (with a .dsc),
or when running in an unpacked source tree?  The latter is
what's most tested.

Do you have an example package this problem is reproducible with?
