No it just seems messy to me ;)

IMO desktop stuff should be in $HOME/Desktop, downloads should go to 
$HOME/Download, and so on, not dump everything to $HOME and let the user 
sort it out.

If you're wondering, yes I find the Freedesktop folders to be a good 
idea, I just augment them with a few handy shortcuts (tmp -> Download, 
doc -> Documents, share -> Public) because they are easier to type ;)
