Hi,

some applications do need a changed pg_hba.conf to work as expected.

This would require a debconf question

Template: ${pkg}/changeconf
Type: boolean
Default: true
_Description: Change PostgreSQL configuration automatically?
To enable bootstrapping the ${pkg} the configuration of
PostgreSQL has to be changed. It is suggested that this is done
in the postinst of ${pkg}. If you answer here with "No"
  make sure you read /usr/share/doc/${pkg}/README.Debian.

Template: ${pkg}/manual
Type: note
_Description: Please change /etc/postgresql/pg_hba.conf
To get the database for package ${pkg} bootstrapped you have
to edit the configuration of your PostgreSQL server according
to the hints in file /usr/share/doc/${pkg}/README.Debian.

The change of the file could also be done by dbconfig-common if there
would be a file, say pg_hba.${pkg} or whatever which consists of
the additional lines ${pkg} needs to work nicely.

Kind regards

           Andreas.
