I am unable to reproduce this:

$ echo "Package: gedit" | grep-dctrl -n -s Package "Package: gedit"
gedit
$ echo "Package: gedit" | grep-dctrl -n -X -s Package "Package: gedit
"
gedit

Ah, but I think you meant the first to alao include -X.  Now, indeed:

$ echo "Package: gedit" | grep-dctrl -n -X -s Package "Package: gedit"
$
