What wodim command options were used ?
How much of data was readable ?

That would be a bit strange.
The readability on Vista weakens the theory
that wodim alone did it wrong.
> Any ideas?
Theoretical reasons why wodim and Linux CD reading
could produce weaker results than other couples:
- wodim could have used a different write mode
(-tao versus -sao) than cdrecord.
- Linux could be less endurant with attempting
to read CD sectors which produce error on the
first try.
Both are not overly likely.
cdck should tell more about the error pattern.
Classical explanation would be that compatibility
of burner and media is at the edge of failure.
This could cause unstable error behavior which
may be misleading if only a few experiments are made.
How many CD-RW were burned unsuccessfully
with wodim ?
How often did Vista succeed with a media
that was not readable by Linux ?
How often did Linux fail with reading the
same media ?
The classical proposal is to try CD-RW from a different
manufacturer on the same burner or to try the same
media on a different burner.
If everything still points to wodim as culprit,
then it would be interesting how my own program
cdrskin performs.
If it fails like wodim, then one could dig for the
reason. If it does not fail, then one could compare
its doings with those of wodim.
Have a nice day :)
