Hi,
i am trying to find out whether ACPI is supposed
to probe CD-ROM drives. I read in wikipedia
"ACPI requires that once an OSPM-compatible
operating system has activated ACPI on a
computer, it then takes over and has exclusive
control of all aspects of power management and
device configuration.
"
This sounds as if a little OS is running
underneath Linux. What if this got out of hand
and constantly molests the DVD drive ?
So just as a shot in the dark:
Make sure to test CD-R[W] burning at least once
with ACPI disabled.
> > There is a surprising wealth of unpleasant drive

Pioneer DVR-216 goes on endless loop if you
inquire its buffer fill before it was full once.
LG GH22LS30 aborts CD TAO if you send a CLOSE
TRACK command after SYNCHRONIZE CACHE.
Samsung SH-S223C tells lies about multi-session
DVD-RW.
All within three months.
And now a general LG flu !
If i had started burn programming under such
circumstances i would have given up soon after.
Have a nice day :)
Thomas
