The failed command is inappropriate for DVD.
42 00 02 is READ TOC/PMA/ATIP with requested format "Raw TOC".
The specification MMC-5 prescribes above reaction:
"6.26.3.4.3 Non-CD Discs
[...]
If the Host requests a TOC/PMA/ATIP of this form when a non-CD disc
is present, the Drive shall terminate the command with
CHECK CONDITION status and set sense bytes SK/ASC/ASCQ to
ILLEGAL REQUEST/INVALID FIELD IN CDB."
So probably option -fulltoc of readom is not suitable for DVD.

Obviously retrieved by a differenct SCSI command, this states that the
DVD is supposed to have 1803456 readable data blocks of 2048 bytes each.
