[debhelper-devel] Bug#832085: debhelper: warn about deprecated options and files

Package: debhelper
Severity: wishlist

Several dh_* commands take deprecated options and files but as far as I
can tell, there is no warning for most of the deprecated things. There
probably needs to be a framework that marks options/files as deprecated
and then automatically warns about them when appropriate. It might also
be an interesting option to export a file or perl library containing
the deprecated options so that lintian can warn about them too.

dh_installinit --init-script
dh_strip --ddeb-migration --ddebs
dh_shlibdeps -u --dpkg-shlibdeps-params
dh_gencontrol -u --dpkg-gencontrol-params
dh_builddeb -u
debian/<package>.compress (warning exists)
dh_clean -k (warning exists)
dh --until --before --after --remaining (warning exists)
