Package: debhelper
Version: 10.2.2
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
after installing the jessie backport of debhelper 10, some other
packages (not part of Debian) started to FTBFS in jessie, in
dh_strip_nondeterminism. Messages were "Incorrect header length" or
"Incorrect file magic" from File::StripNondeterminism::handlers::ar.
Turns out libfile-stripnondeterminism-perl (built by
src:strip-nondeterminism) in jessie has a bug and you'll have to install
the backport of that package as well.
To prevent more people from getting caught by this, can you please add
versioned dependencies? Something like
dh-autoreconf (>= 12~),
- dh-strip-nondeterminism,
+ dh-strip-nondeterminism (>= 0.028~),
dpkg (>= 1.16.2),
or (more accurate)
dh-autoreconf (>= 12~),
dh-strip-nondeterminism,
+ libfile-stripnondeterminism-perl (>= 0.028~),
dpkg (>= 1.16.2),
dpkg-dev (>= 1.17.0),
Thanks,
Christoph
