I've been using screen mostly, but I've tried minicom too; no success.

Doesn't look too different from what I've been doing; it doesn't work
for me.

I don't think I'm using the wrong one, but I suppose I could try the
other one (mine has four ports; two serial thingies, two CAN ports
which, BTW, aren't serial ports and cannot be used unless you've got a
548x, which only Adam does)
