I have built a kernel image with the sources of debian kernel
2.6.27-1-686 on debian-trunk.

Additionally I have built the atl2 driver from the sources.
Furthermore, /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi was edited to allow loading of
the ath5k module.

So far my experience with this kernel on the eee 900 has been good.
The SD card issue I had with read errors is solved, wired and wireless
interfaces work.

The only issue I see is toggling wifi with Fn+F2. That gives
[ 1030.287306] ath5k phy0: failed to wakeup the MAC Chip
[ 1030.287318] ath5k phy0: unable to reset hardware: -5
