The model number can be deduced using dmidecode:

 # dmidecode -s system-manufacturer
 ASUSTeK Computer INC.
 # dmidecode -s system-product-name
 901

so no need to involve debconf.

Do the above settings in /etc/modules and /etc/modprobe.d/local (I 
guess we should use /etc/modprobe.d/eeepc instead of local) work for 
all models?

I know they work for 901. 701 does not need pciehp_slot_with_bus, but 
does it cause any harm?
