Perhaps this is fixed in the 1.8.0.0 release. Debian package of 
1.8.0.0 source is still not uploaded anywhere yet, but the Git 
repository of rt2860-source (including 1.8.0.0) is at 
git://git.debian.org/git/debian-eeepc/rt2860-source.git

Works with the current 2.6.26 Debian kernel.
