It seems work on that front is already commencing. Iván Sánchez Ortega
pointed me to this[1] thread linux-kernel mailing list.

The proposed patches are not in the mainline kernel yet, but they look
promising.
In the mean time, the current ssupport for the bluetooth key in
26.26-4 (whereever that comes from) looks OK, even if not quite right
(i.e. disabling the device in the BIOS makes it completely unavailable
to the system, contrary to the wlan).
