Sorry, "never works again" is not enough to diagnose the problem. Can 
you report the output of running "sh -x /etc/acpi/actions/wireless.sh 
on" as root?

Since most of the scripts are conffiles, dpkg won't replace your 
modified versions if you have any. Is it possible that you have an 
old, modified version of some script? Try purging and reinstalling the 
package.

This should be the same as the version in Debian prooper, only put in 
a "lenny" distribution.
