Odd, I don't have this problem on my 901 with the default debian-eeepc
install.  Perhaps the speed of the SD card has an affect on this?   

As a temporary solution you can add a 'rootdelay=5' option to the kernel 
line in /boot/grub/menu.list.  This delays mounting the root filesystem 
by 5 seconds, allowing devices to settle.  This obviously is not an 
optimal solution, but might be a workable solution until you figure
out how to do it properly.
