Hello,

I own an eeepc 900a and installed debian.
I recently did an "apt-get dist-upgrade" and I am running Kernel 2.6.32-5-686

Since alsa was not working without trouble I followed these instructions
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC/HowTo/Sound#InstallanupdatedAlsadriver to get a newer alsa version.

But still I am having problems. I put a the output of alsa-info.sh here
http://files.muellers.ms/alsa/eeepc_900a_alsa-info.txt

1) Mixer controls

In alsamixer I see the control for "Mic Boost" twice.
If I change one of them the other also moves,

Same for "IntMic Boost" it's also there twice.
See here for a screenshot of alsamixer http://files.muellers.ms/alsa/eeepc_900a_alsamixer.png

But anyhow it seems that they do not have any effect at all,
they only raise the noise while. To record with the internal Mic I have to enable/open "Capture" and "Digital"
   Does that make sense ?

2) crackling noise

If I change any of the mixer controls e.g. increase volume or do an "/etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart"
or do an "cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0" or start arecord I get crackling noise on the speaker and headphones for a few seconds.

3) duplex

It seems that I can't hear the input of the internal mic neither on the speakers nor on my headphones.
Even not while recording. This is different on my IBM Thinkpad T43 where I am able to monitor what I am recording.
Is this because full duplex is not working, means recording and replaying at the same time ?

4) audacity
If I start a recording with audacity it first needs some seconds to raise it's levels which looks like this
   http://files.muellers.ms/alsa/audacity.png

All in all recording quality is very low with very high noise.
But playback e.g. mplayer mp3 or flashplayer just works fine beside the
crackling noise I get for a few seconds once I modify the mixer controls

With the Original OS Xandros Linux didn't have these problems but of course I prefer Debian.

Any suggestions to get these issues resolved ?

TIA
Lixus
