That sounds suspiciously like you changed something else, too.

So do the first and third of these. Is 'eeepc_laptop' loaded (check
lsmod)? What model do you have? What kernel?

If you think it's eeepc-acpi-scripts alone that's at fault, simply
downgrade to the one in Squeeze. I have my doubts.
