Well, I've done some research.

I found some kernel source code at http://update.eeepc.asus.com/p900/misc/, which I hope is the one regarding the kernel which came running with my EEE PC 900.

I made a diff of the vanilla agains this version, the only changes I found were:

Support for a new USB modem

Support for UnionFS

Sound card patch

So, there's not a thing regarding synaptics driver there. I guess they patched the Xorg driver, I will try to find their source code and do the same thing as I did with the kernel.

Alessandro, if you could point me to the forum topics you mentioned, i'd appreciate.

I'll report here my future findings.

Bye.

----
Fabio Pugliese Ornellas
E-Mail: fabio.ornellas@gmail.com

> The configuration is pretty much the same as Asus default Xandros, but there, it works as expected. My guess is that Asus patched either the kernel or the xorg driver to make it work, I'm still to find out which

Asus patched the kernel, the psmouse driver.
The touchpad is an Elantech one, so maybe they patched the xorg
synaptics driver too, but I am not sure, because patching psmouse you
could make the elantech "synaptics compatible".

There has been some work by eeeuser forum users to make the standard
(kernel) driver recognize horizontal scrolling, zooming and triple touch
but most of them have problems.

I tried looking to the sources, but I am no kernel developer, and I
couldn't find a way to fix it. :(

Bye.
