Adam - have you tried to upgrade libfribidi to come from the same version as
Abiword?

debian-hebrew-common members -

I found this mentioning a package we all probably use and a ping to Baruch
which was never answered.

Can anyone help the OP? (cc'ed).

Cheers,

Subject: [SLUG] Abiword craashes with libfribidi0 probs ...
To: slug at slug.org.au

Hi,

I recently pinned unstable and testing sources to my Etch
'sources.list' and updated frequently used applications, including
Abiword.

However, when I try to enter text it crashes with
gnome-terminal error message ..

abiword: symbol lookup error: abiword: undefined symbol:
fribidi_get_type

        I've emailed maintainer of libfribidi0 < baruch at debian.org >
but have had no response so far. From Googling around, I understand
that it is a relatively old bug (circa 1975 ?) ..

Can anyone suggest a fix ?

I'm an almost daily user of AbiWord. Having temporarily
switched to 'O.O.org Writer' I miss its usability ..

Cheers,

Adam Bogacki,
