find attached the diff between the version with no flags and the version with 
flags.

One interesting point: In order to create the "before" images, I went to the 
configuration dialog, and clicked "use default icon" for both US and Israeli 
layouts. After I did this, I could not restore the flags until I logged out 
and in again. By "I could not restore the flags", I mean that while the flag 
icons showed up in the list of flags to choose, choosing them had no effect. 
Choosing different flags (that is, some random flag that is not the US flag 
for the US layout) did seem to work. Anyway, logging out and in again fixed 
it (and on second thought, I suppose just restarting kkbswitch would too).
