As I said, this is not a new upstream version, but rather a packaging fix
that fixes a release critical (to the package) bug.

There isn't a bug in sugar itself; these are all in its various activities.
It just so happens that none of those activities have had any updates since
the latest version in lenny, so it shouldn't be an issue.
