Above seems acceptable.

zsh! Another (to me) oddity. Yes, sugar-emulator should work fine with
both GNOME and zsh - but obviously something is wrong here, and those
are unusual at least to me, so haven't been tested (by me). We need to
find something that works and from there try to break down and isolate
what triggers the problems, so...
Could you please try opening an xterm (not gnome-terminal), and from
there start a bash shell (not zsh), and from there start sugar-emulator:
