AFAIK the LSB was created long after debian already had a 'powerpc'
port.  All this means is that the name 'powerpc' wasn't a deviation
=66rom a standard because there was no standard when that decision was
made.  Now there is a standard, and so -now- that should be taken into
consideration.

Really, both 'ppc64' and 'powerpc64' are reasonable names.  'ppc64' has
the advantage of being shorter, and easier, to type.  Is it really
worth the effort to change it now, and to be "different" just for the
sake of being different?  I don't think so, and I think people are
wasting more time than it's worth arguing over this choice.
