Oh well, I guess we need some kind of blessing for it to zork correctly, there
was some mention of this in the past already, i thought it was fixed. Can you
fill a but report against debian-installer about this ?

have you tried the netboot kernel ? power4/netboot/vmlinuz-chrp.initrd

Like said in a previous mail in this thread, cajus pollmeyer did some work to
get a ppc64 debian-installer going, for some power5 machines. I think he
posted the link here or in debian-powerpc. If not , google is your firend.
