    "long long" is not ANSI-compliant. Chaning it to 'word'
    
    Using 'word' is appropriate for all cases:
    * 'rotate_word' and 'calculate_hash' were using/returning a 'word'
    * The code
      unsigned word hash = 0;
      for (word const* ptr = rowptr; ptr < rowptr + wide; ++ptr)
        hash ^= *ptr;
    
      used a 'word', too
