OASIS Mobilizes to Overcome Challenges to PKI Adoption

The OASIS PKI TC has published an Action Plan aimed at breaking down
barriers to widespread adoption of Public Key Infrastructure technology.
Considered a foundational Internet security technology, PKI is used to
authenticate people, secure commercial transactions, and protect the privacy
of emails and telephone conversations. The OASIS PKI Technical Committee
will host a reception at the RSA Conference on Wednesday, 25 Feb, 6:00-7:30
PM in Moscone North Meeting Room 120.

OASIS SAML Interoperability Lab Demonstrates Single Sign-On for GSA E-Gov's
E-Authentication Initiative

Eleven companies, including Computer Associates, DataPower Technology,
Entrust, Hewlett-Packard, Oblix, OpenNetwork, RSA Security, and Sun
Microsystems, will team with the U.S. General Service Administration (GSA)
E-Gov E-Authentication Initiative to demonstrate interoperability of the
Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), an OASIS Standard for the
exchange of authentication and authorization information. For the first time
ever, members of the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee will
demonstrate both types of SAML version 1.1 Single Sign-On, along with
additional scenarios that highlight SAML's flexibility. The event will take
place 25-26 Feb at the 2004 RSA Conference in San Francisco.

XDI BOF Meeting on 25 February, San Francisco

An XDI (XRI Data Interchange) Birds of a Feather meeting will be held in
conjunction with the RSA Conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, 25
February from 5-7pm in the Belvedere Room of the San Francisco Grand Hyatt
Hotel. The hotel is located at 345 Stockton in Union Square, which is a

OASIS Begins Work on ebSOA

The OASIS Electronic Business Service Oriented Architecture (ebSOA) TC is
being formed. The mission of the OASIS ebSOA TC is to extend the ebXML
Technical Architecture by including ebXML specifications with other Web
Services and service-oriented architecture work. The TC is open to all OASIS
members, please notify the chair by 14 April of your intent to attend the
first meeting to be held on 29 April in New Orleans.

CGM Open Transitions to OASIS Member Section

Members of CGM Open, an OASIS affiliate since 1998, approved the transition
to become an OASIS Member Section, officially bringing them under the
operating structure of the OASIS TC Process. CGM Open is dedicated to making
Web graphics standards easy to adopt and practical to use in real world,
open systems applications. CGM Open developed and currently maintains
WebCGM, an application of the ISO-standard Computer Graphics Metafile for
electronic documents. OASIS organizational members may now choose to
allocate a portion of their dues to fund the work of the OASIS CGM Open
Member Section.
