[debian-yeeloong-project] What's the recommended kernel? 2.6 or 3.x?

I'm asking because I started out with Debian Wheezy and a 3.1.0 Linux
kernel which was compiled for loongson but I can't find the source package
in the sid repository.

However with this kernel I have been unable to get battery status and all
the information on dev.lemote.com is aimed towards 2.6 kernels. Is there
work being done on the 3.1 kernel for Yeeloong computers?
