Package: yaboot
Severity: important

Hi,

I've been trying to netboot a G5 box with the default Debian net-install
(powerpc64) yaboot and vmlinux images. However, it seems that the Debian
vmlinux images are > 6MB. A well known traditional limitation of yaboot has
been the fact that it's TFTP buffer size could not be bigger than 6MB.

I was stuck until I found the new yaboot GIT repository available from:
http://yaboot.ozlabs.org/ (git://ozlabs.org/srv/projects/yaboot/yaboot.git)

The yaboot in the GIT repository seems to have removed the 6MB limitation
(or upped it to something like 16MB). With this new yaboot, I was able to
netboot the G5 with the Debian images, and my net-install is well under
way.

Just wanted to leave this documented here, and maybe ask the Debian
yaboot package mantainers to consider upgrading to the GIT version.

  Thanks,

                        Livio
