I am using debian-507-powerpc-netinst.iso.

OK, I am using 0.12.5+dfsg-3/amd64 from current Sid.
Right now, Debian contains:
% ssh merkel.debian.org dak ls qemu
      qemu | 0.9.1-10lenny1 | stable | source, amd64, i386, powerpc, sparc
      qemu | 0.12.5+dfsg-3 | testing | source, amd64, armel, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, sparc
      qemu | 0.12.5+dfsg-3 | unstable | source, amd64, armel, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, sparc
      qemu | 0.13.0+dfsg-2 | experimental | source, amd64, armel, i386, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, sparc
So you are using the one from experimental.

Thanks, I forgot the "-boot d" part and now surprisingly yes it works...
W00t! Yaboot on OldWorld! I am guessing it is a "magical" wonder from
OpenBIOS. :]

Indeed.

OpenBIOS is probably the culprit too.

I am reopening this bug and reassigning it to QEmu, just to let the
QEmu maintainers team know about it. I am sure Aurélien Jarno has
some clue. :]
