[Debootloaders-yaboot] Bug#580999: yaboot: Debian fails to install over serial in qemu

Package: yaboot
Severity: normal

$ qemu-system-ppc -m 1024 -net nic,model=e1000 -net
tap,ifname=tap0,script=no,downscript=no ppc.img -cdrom
debian-504-powerpc-netinst.iso  -boot d -nographic

Writes the OFW banner on the standard output and does nothing,

Running the installed system with -boot c gives a quik prompt.

As I understand it the install CD uses yaboot and I could not find
anything about configuring yaboot for use with serial port in the docs
so I guess yaboot cannot do it or should do it automagically and it is
broken.
