The reason is that I'm spending quite some time explaining people the
difference between a facet and a tag.  If we use the same separator
between tags and subtags as we use between facets and tags, then I fear
that the confusion will be total and irreversible.

If we do this, the distiction between facet and tags/subtags is clear:

Tag: works-with::image
Tag: works-with::image:raster
Tag: works-with::image:raster:jpg
Tag: works-with::image:raster:png
Tag: works-with::image:vector
Tag: works-with::image:vector:svg
Tag: works-with::software:package
Tag: works-with::software:running
Tag: works-with::software:source

While if we do this, the facet just looks like a tag:

Tag: works-with::image
Tag: works-with::image::raster
Tag: works-with::image::raster::jpg
Tag: works-with::image::raster::png
Tag: works-with::image::vector
Tag: works-with::image::vector::svg
Tag: works-with::software::package
Tag: works-with::software::running
Tag: works-with::software::source
