Hi,
The "application" vs. "utility" distinction is a really tough thing.
It keeps on coming up, it just won't stay dead. Maybe we should just
call all of them "apps"...
For sysvinit we already have "role::daemon" don't we? Oh, no, I think
that was an UI-type... the no-UI UI-type. ;-)
Maybe role::automation or role::automated-task or so would be good,
with the notion that the user hopefully will never have to deal with
it directly. ;-)
An audience:: facet also sounds very reasonable to me, but there are
multiple classifications here:
audience::developer, audience::admin, audience::user
vs.
audience::beginner, audience::intermediate, audience::freak
(the latter is probably less useful. For example evolution - for all
three. Whereas its a clear "user" program. Not that an admin is also a
user part-time.
We can put a lot of stuff in there, like these custom debian distributions.=
..
audience::junior, audience::lawyer, audience::graphics-artist
Damn, it just gets worse and worse.
