Could also use git-hg. (this is distributed in the git package,
however it is in /usr/share/doc, so using it where it is might be a violation
of policy 12.1).

Same goes for hg users that might want to use hg-git. (although I can't
imagine why someone would want to use anything other than git ;)

How about a --git or --hg option, with persist settings too?
