Hope you don't mind me re-using this bug report. Attached is an mbox with 7 
more patches. I don't know yet when I'm going to start another archive-wide 
run for this patchset, but I don't expect regressions.

I have updated my test suite accordingly.

As far as I could see, the changes in the last batch didn't cause any major 
regression.
