Ouch, I tried this out and you're correct.

My first thought would be that we should setup a traditional GOROOT
somewhere and have the binaries we install be symlinks to that
location instead, which is how I've seen upstream used in the past
(and which fixes this problem; essentially "/usr/share/go" and
"/usr/lib/go" combined into one directory instead of being split).
