could you please try again with the version in git or cherry-pick [1] to
your installation? os.getlogin() requires a controlling terminal to
obtain your log-in name, which is not available in some setups which may
throw your error in that case.

We fixed this a while back in f7418f6b [1] and I suspect this being your
problem.
